DVD commentary can offer insight into a production, provide off the cuff laughs, explain theories and thought processes but only Arnold Schwarzenegger’s commentaries provide a public service by explaining exactly what is happening in every scene to eliminate any confusion.  The highlights of his commentary for Total Recall has been making the rounds of the internet today but there’s also a video highlighting his Conan the Barbarian commentary with director John Milius as well.  Check out both of them below.

From the guys that made all the other brilliant action movie musicals comes the final one featuring Arnold, Predator: The Musical.   Arnold and cast sing the rousing number “If It Bleeds, We Can Kill It” as they prepare for their final confrontation with the Predator.  As always the Arnold voice is spot on and hilarious and I also love the Carl Weathers voice as well.  Check out the video below.

The latest action movie turned musical by Jon and Al Kaplan is our beloved Commando, and it might be their most brilliant video to date.  Arnold sings the heartwarming song “Jenny and Me”, which pretty much sums up the whole movie in 3 minutes.  I love the fact that they integrated Commando’s steel drum flavored score into the song and also that Bennett sounds like he’s from Sweeney Todd or something.  Check it out below.

Everything is Terrible is back with another of their fantastic 3 Minute Movie videos.  This time they excavated the horrible futuristic/apocalyptic action movie 2020 Texas Gladiators.  The thing I keep flashing back to while watching this is the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode “Warriors of the Lost World”.  As near as I can tell, a group of rebels in Texas are trying to overthrow the evil, technologically superior dictator and get help from some friendly Native Americans.  Check out all the horribleness below.

Red Letter Media, who brought us fantastic reviews/eviscerations of The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones are back with Mr. Plinkett’s review of JJ Abrams review of Star Trek.  It’s definitely the most positive review I’ve seen from them so far but Plinkett still has his usual, incredibly insightful, criticisms about not just the movie but the Star Trek franchise and the current state of movies in general.  It’s also full of their usual incredibly dark humor.  Check out both parts below (the whole review is about an hour long).

Everything is Terrible and the Alamo Drafthouse are teaming up to show the world “Miami Connection”, a movie that looks like it’s awesomely bad in every possible way.  As the trailer below shows, EIT claims that this movie has something for everyone including, “Neck Gore, Pizza Parties and Epic Letter Openings”.  Check it out below.

Star Wars has always been a great source for entertaining fan films but this one is easily one of the best.  Topless Robot found this trailer for Blackstar Warrior, a blaxsploitation sci fi/action movie starring the smoothest dude in the galaxy, Lando Calrissian.  Lando is just trying to make his way in the galaxy but gets hassled by the man and takes the fight to the Empire.  It’s a perfect combination of a blaxsploitation trailer and nerdy Star Wars references, definitely check it out below.

/Film found this awesome music video for the song “I’m Bruce Willis” by hip hop group Jeep Cherokee.  While I don’t think it’s quite on the level of “Die Hard” by Guyz Nite, it’s still pretty fucking awesome.  Check it out below.

Going around the internets over the weekend and today is this montage/music video called Pure, which some websites has been saying is a collection of visual cliches but in reality it’s just an extremely kick ass video featuring a ton of our favorite action movies.  The editing is amazing and you barely have time to breathe as the clips just keep coming.  Check it out below.

Everything is Terrible has unearthed another Stephen Baldwin gem, this time the 1997 direct to video submarine thriller Sub Down.  What’s kind of mind blowing to me is that the movie also stars Gabrielle Anwar aka Fiona from Burn Notice and it’s extremely bizarre to see her with her native accent and not blowing stuff up with C4.  It’s a toss up whether it’s as weird as seeing Burn Notice star Jeffrey Donovan in Blair Witch 2.  In either case, you can check out 2.5 minutes of hilariously edited footage from Sub Down as Baldwin and Anwar try to save a nuclear submarine that is damaged during a research mission.

Youtube user richfofo, who previously gave us the No Signal montage is back with another horror movie cliche, the mirror scare.  The subject of a hilarious bit by Paul F. Tompkins, the mirror scare is when a character is looking into a mirror and a slight adjustment to said mirror results in a previously unseen monster suddenly appearing.  Check out the video below and be careful in your bathroom.

The duo of DJ Mayhem and Mouthmaster Murf are back for another action movie inspired rap.  We’ve already heard them recap The Terminator and Robocop and now they drop some mad beats and recap James Cameron’s Aliens.  Coming in at 10 minutes the duo runs through the whole plot and expertly mixes actual dialogue into their flow.  Check it out below.

Making it’s way around the interwebs for the past couple of weeks has been this epic and hilarious dissection of every reason why The Phantom Menace sucks rancor balls.  Divided into 7 parts and coming in at a whopping 70 minutes, Milwaukee film critic/videographer Mike Stoklasa points out all the gaping plot holes, lack of a main character and generally boringness of the movie that continues to give nerds spasms.  Check out the first part below and the rest on youtube.

From the height of Fox’s Saturday morning cartoon prowess comes Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot.  Based on a Frank Miller comic for Dark Horse, the show follows the adventures of America’s greatest defender, the BGY11 or Big Guy and super advanced boy robot Rusty as they battle aliens, giant monsters and the evil robotic creations of the Legion Ex Machina.  Great animation and a great voice cast including veteran voice actors Jonathan Cook, Jim Hanks and Pamela Adlon along with Gabrielle Carteris, R. Lee Ermey, Stephen Root, Tim Curry, Brian Doyle Murray and M. Emmett Walsh.  Check out the first episode below, courtesy of Hulu.

Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon are teaming up for another action packed thriller with Green Zone.  Set during the early days of the Iraq War, it follows Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller as he attempts to find the whereabouts of WMDs and an Iraqi general.  He also uncovers a possible conspiracy as well.  The movie co-stars Greg Kinnear, Brendan Gleeson and Amy Ryan, who is hard to watch now without thinking of goofy Holly Flax.  Iraq war movies are very hit or miss but with Greengrass and Damon on board this one looks like it could be pretty awesome.  Check out the trailer below and see what you think.
