Jigsaw finally met his match in a pair of terrorized 20 somethings as Paranormal Activity took home the top spot at the box office this weekend. Out for 5 weeks now, Paranormal Activity has been slowly building and expanding until this weekend it made $22 million at 2,000 theaters. With a budget of $15,000 it’s easily on track to become one of the most profitable movies of all time and experts are predicting it could possibly cross the $100 million gross mark. Saw VI came in second at $14.8 million, only beating the original Saw in opening weekend sales and pulling in only half the audience compared to Saw V. Hopefully people are finally getting tired of the series. The other new releases failed to do anything spectacular, Astro Boy came in sixth with $7 million, The Vampire’s Assistant came in eighth $6.43 million and Amelia barely registered in eleventh place with $4 million. Last week’s 1 and 2, Where the Wild Things Are and Law Abiding Citizen dropped down to third and fourth. With Halloween this weekend will Paranormal Activity continue to dominate or will it be defeated by Michael Jackson’s This is It?
