Battle at the Box Office 6/7

Shrek continues his stranglehold on the top of the box office, pulling in another $25.5 million.  Get Him to the Greek came in second with a respectable $17.6 million, putting it on pace with Nick Stoller’s previous movie, Forgetting Sarah Marshall and other similar comedies like Role Models and I Love You, Man.  Killers was third place with $15.8 million, lower than other recent romantic action comedies like Date Night or The Bounty Hunter.  Prince of Persia managed to top it’s rival of last week, Sex and the City 2, although both movies suffered over 50% drops (Sex and the City had an over 60% drop).  Marmaduke came in a deserved sixth place with $11.6 million and putting it near the bottom of the “shitty family talking animal comedy” genre in terms of opening weekend.  The final new movie, Splice, came in at eighth place with $7.4 million but will probably do well on DVD.  Can The Karate Kid or The A-Team finally take down the ogre?
