It’s been a while since we heard about Ridley Scott’s upcoming prequel to the Alien franchise but he gave out some details in a recent LA Times interview including:
- The prequel will actually be two films and the scripts are all set to go.
- The films will take place many, many years before Alien and we’ll find out who our buddy the Space Jockey (above) is and more about his race and how they relate to the Xenomorphs.
- A main focus of the film will be terraforming planets and Near Faster Than Light space travel, which involves rearranging matter and other “sci fi, Mr. Spock type stuff”
- The husk of the Space Jockey might actually be a type of space suit and there’s a being underneath.
It sounds pretty interesting but there hasn’t been the best track record for prequels that go out of their way to explain tons of things about the original films, *cough* Star Wars Prequels *cough*, but I trust Ridley Scott to figure out a way to make it work and more Alien is always welcome (as long as Ridley Scott or James Cameron are involved).
I’m like the J. Jonah Jameson of Everything Action, writing and editing and constantly demanding pictures of Spider-Man.
