After months of creepily mysterious teasers, FX has finally released the first actual trailer for one of our most anticipated shows for the Summer, Guillermo Del Toro’s The Strain. Based on the book series that GDT wrote with Chuck Hogan, the show follows CDC investigator Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (played by House of Cards’ Corey Stoll) as he and his team investigates a passenger plane that arrives in JFK airport with all but 4 of it’s passengers dead. Bodies start disappearing from morgues around the city and Dr. Goodweather starts to realize something other than a virus may have been unleashed. Various others, including Holocaust survivor turned NYC pawn shop owner Abraham Setrakin (played by David Bradley) must come together to stop the threat before it destroys all of humanity. GDT wrote and directed the pilot and Lost’s Carlton Cuse will be the main showrunner. It looks like GDT’s earlier movies like The Devil’s Backbone and Cronos crossed with Outbreak or the recent SyFy show Helix and considering GDT and FX’s track records, should be pretty awesome. It’s premiering on Sunday, July 13 and you can check out the trailer below.
I’m like the J. Jonah Jameson of Everything Action, writing and editing and constantly demanding pictures of Spider-Man.
