While we’re not sure if he’s going to be the next Bond, Idris Elba gets a chance to flex his spy/action muscles with the upcoming thriller, Bastille Day. Set in Paris, Elba is a CIA agent who is leading an investigation into a bombing that was inadvertently set in motion by a pickpocket (Richard Madden) who steals the wrong bag and in kind of 48 Hours style, the two have to work to find out who was really behind the bombing. There’s also the requisite corrupt cops and Elba and Madden have to go rogue. It looks like a solid thriller that might get elevated by Elba getting a chance to kick ass a la Matt Damon or Liam Neeson. It’s out in the spring in the UK and France but no word on a US release date yet. Check out the trailer below.
I’m like the J. Jonah Jameson of Everything Action, writing and editing and constantly demanding pictures of Spider-Man.
