After making his debut in Jessica Jones, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage gets his chance to shine in next month’s latest edition to the Netflix Marvel side of the MCU. Heading back home to Harlem, Luke reluctantly becomes the boroughs defender when villainous nightclub owner Cottonmouth (Mahershala Ali) looking to become the criminal kingpin of Harlem and is, among other things, extorting the local businesses for protection money. The action looks great and really uses Luke’s invulnerability for crazy looking fights and it has a really cool hip-hop vibe, which makes sense as one of the showrunners, Cheo Hodari Coker is a former music journalist and friend of Biggie Smalls. Rosario Dawson’s Claire is back in her role as the connecting thread between the Netflix shows and other Marvel comic characters like Misty Knight (Simone Missick) make their live action debut. All episodes are streaming on September 30th and you can check out the full trailer below.
I’m like the J. Jonah Jameson of Everything Action, writing and editing and constantly demanding pictures of Spider-Man.
