Based on the novel by Caleb Carr, TNT is bringing The Alienist to the small screen sometime in the near future with a star studded cast. Daniel Bruhl stars as Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, an “alienist”, which in 19th century parlance was an expert criminal psychologist, who is brought onto a case involving the murder of young male prostitutes by none other than Teddy Roosevelt in 1886 New York City. Kreizler teams with newspaper illustrator John Moore (Luke Evans) and police secretary Sara Howard (Dakota Fanning) to figure out what is driving this serial killer and how to stop him. True Detective’s Cary Fukunaga is producing the show (and hopefully directing a few episodes as well). It looks super dark and possibly will push the limits of what TNT currently allows but there’s no solid release date for it yet (probably late this year or sometime next year). Check out the trailer below.
I’m like the J. Jonah Jameson of Everything Action, writing and editing and constantly demanding pictures of Spider-Man.
