Anybody remember Skyline? It came out in 2010 and was only really notable for the amount of special effects directors the Strause Brothers were able to make on a tiny budget and for becoming a surprising but critically reviled hit at the box office and now, seven years later, a sort of sequel is coming with Beyond Skyline. Upping the excitement and bad ass quotient immediately, Frank Grillo and Iko Uwais co-star as survivors of the Skyline aliens invasion who are trying to fight back and, specifically for Grillo, trying to rescue his son who was taken by the aliens in one of their ships. Liam O’Donnell, who worked on the visual effects for Iron Man 2, The Bay and AvP: Requiem, is making his directorial debut with the Strause Brothers producing and it’s out sometime later this year. I’m not sure if attaching to the Skyline name is the smartest move since most people probably forgot that was even a movie but Grillo and Uwais alone make it jump way up in interest for us. I’m like the J. Jonah Jameson of Everything Action, writing and editing and constantly demanding pictures of Spider-Man.
