Musical Montage: Billy Idol “Dancing With Myself”

Originally recorded by his band Generation X in 1979, Billy Idol remixed and re-released “Dancing With Myself” in 1981 as a solo artist and it became his first hit in the US, reaching #27 on the Billboard ” Hot Dance Club Play” chart.  The reason we’re closing out October with it though is that the music video for the song was directed by the late horror legend Tobe Hooper, the only music video he ever directed.  The music video is set in some sort of ruined city where Billy rides an elevator to the top floor of an apartment building while zombies swarm outside and various horrific things are happening inside the building as well, like a husband ready to murder his wife with a sledgehammer.  Billy remains pretty upbeat about the whole situation and you can check out the video below.
