Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg are Back with Mile 22 (Trailer)

Taking a break from depictions of real life disasters and events like Lone Survivor, Patriot’s Day and Deepwater Horizon, the duo director Peter Berg and Mark Wahlberg are reteaming for a gold old fashioned action movie with Mile 22.  Wahlberg plays James Silva, leader of the CIA’s highly secretive tactical team Overwatch who are called into Southeast Asia when a cop, Li Noor (Iko Uwais) turns himself into the US Embassy with information about stolen radioactive materials.  Silva and his team (which includes Lauren Cohan and Ronda Roussey)  have to escort Li to Mile 22 outside of the city and get him out of the country but the men behind the stolen radioactive material want to stop them by any means necessary.  John Malkovich co-stars as the head of Overwatch overseeing things from the command center.  It looks like a pretty awesome “fight your way from one point to another” type of action movie that goes back to classic like The Warriors and in recent years stuff like 16 Blocks and Berg knows how to do action, Battleship aside, with stuff like the aforementioned Lone Survivor and The Kingdom.  The movie hits on August 3rd and you can check out the trailer below.
