Jack Black and Cate Blanchett co-star in the upcoming adaptation of John Bellairs’ fantasy book, The House with a Clock in Its Walls. Directed by, shockingly, R rated schlock master Eli Roth, The House with a Clock stars Black as Jonathan Barnavelt, who takes in his 10 year old nephew Lewis (Owen Vaccaro) and reveals that he’s a warlock and begins training Lewis in the ways of magic. Jonathan’s neighbor Mrs. Zimmerman (Blanchett) is also a witch and the duo are concerned with a secret of Jonathan’s house, a hidden clock left by the previous, evil owner that seems to be counting down to something that cannot in anyway be good. Kyle MacLachlan is the aforementioned previous owner and the script was written by Eric Kripke, creator of Supernatural. It looks like this could be a fun follow-up to Black hilarious scene stealing in Jumanji and a way better creepy kids movie than Goosebumps and Cate Blanchett is always great and seems to share Helen Mirren’s attitude of “eff it, this seems fun” when choosing her roles. The movie arrives on September 21st and you can check out the trailer below.
I’m like the J. Jonah Jameson of Everything Action, writing and editing and constantly demanding pictures of Spider-Man.
