The Pull List – The Forgotten Queen #1

The Mongol Empire saw the rise and fall of many great Khans, but a lone figure was watching from the background. She was called many names, spoken in whispers or in rage, but she called herself Vexana, the War-Monger. With her magical powers, she could influence any warrior to do her bidding. She wandered the earth looking for the next battle to entertain herself. However, something had stopped her bloodlust in its tracks, hiding her away from time. But someone has found her, giving her a second chance to see a new battle.

In the battlefields, everyone is a pawn to be played for War-Monger. She is a warrior that does not seeks only the chaotic destruction of people. Her past is lost to time, having witness mankind change from uncivilized nomads to becoming feudal warlords. Vexana finds conquers that would lead her to her next battle to watch. Having allied with Chinggis Khan, also known as Genghis Khan, Vexana took part in the rise of the Mongol Empire across Asia. Her adventures continue after the great Khan falls and her desire for chaos still beats on.

The series also follows events in the modern era, with a crew of researchers looking for the lost artifacts of Vexana in the Pacific ocean. Sarnai Oyuunchimeg funds a science expedition that quickly becomes dangerous. However, she pushes to continue exploring the depths of the sea, risking the lives of everyone aboard. Could this be the powers of the War-Monger or something great?

Writer Tini Howard is no strange to working with characters with wicked morals. Howard has collaborated on series where characters walk the fine line between hero and villain, and War-Monger leaps right into the zone of villainy at the start. She’s short-tempered, foul mouth and quick to make people fight around her. Amilcar Pinna features a diverse setpiece, designing the rough Mongol horde, exotic sea life and the evil grins on Vexana’s face.

The Forgotten Queen takes a closer look of one of Valiant’s mysterious immortal villains. Her early appearances were taking on the super team of heroes in Unity, having been beaten and sent to the ocean. This series uncovers War-Monger’s devious past while giving a glimmer of her future. This series follows War-Monger as she journeys to find love, hate and all the moments in-between.

The Forgotten Queen #1 will be on sale on February 27th, 2019.
