We last saw Roland Emmerich behind the camera for the incredibly stupid Independence Day sequel and now it seems like this November he’s pulling a Michael Bay and putting his over the top style over World War II with Midway. Starring Ed Skrein, Patrick Wilson, Nick Jonas, Aaron Eckhart, Woody Harrelson, Mandy Moore, and Dennis Quaid, Midway, as the title might suggest, follows the events leading to the Battle of Midway, considered the decisive Allied victory in the Pacific that crippled the Japanese Navy six months after Pearl Harbor. Speaking of which, it seems like possibly a huge chunk of the beginning of Midway will actually be recreating the attack on Pearl Harbor that feels basically indistinguishable from Michael Bay’s version and Emmerich has always seemed to share Bay’s propensity for terrible humor and cliche drama as well, but hopefully, that’s not the case here. The movie is out on November 8th and you can check out the trailer below.
I’m like the J. Jonah Jameson of Everything Action, writing and editing and constantly demanding pictures of Spider-Man.
