For most fans, Genndy Tartakovsky has a blank check and unwavering trust having delivered animation classics like Dexter’s Lab, Powerpuff Girls, The Clone Wars and Samurai Jack. Coming off the more mature and incredible final season of Samurai Jack on Adult Swim, Tartakovsky is leaning even more into the adult and brutal world for this October’s Primal. Set in a ferocious prehistoric world, Primal follows a caveman hunter named Spear and his T-rex companion as they fight and survive against other vicious creatures. The show looks like it will have Tartakovsky trademark gorgeous animation style but it’s significantly more violent and brutal than anything he’s ever done before, which we are all for. It also seems like Spear won’t really talk, so the show is fully leaning into Tartakovsky’s incredible visual storytelling abilities that he perfected on Samurai Jack. The series premieres on October 7th with a five-night special event and you can check out the new trailer below.
I’m like the J. Jonah Jameson of Everything Action, writing and editing and constantly demanding pictures of Spider-Man.
