Hailing from Norway, Trollhunter arrived in 2010 as one of the best entries in the found footage genre. Directed by Andre Ovredal, who would go on to make The Autopsy of Jane Doe and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, the movie follows a documentary film crew who are looking for a suspected bear poacher named Hans (Otto Jespersen). They are shocked to discover that Hans doesn’t hunt bears, but trolls and the documentary crew shifts gears and follows him as he tracks down and kills various species of trolls, ranging from an underground hive of subterrean trolls to a massive Jotnar that is over 300 feet tall. The movie does a great job of incorporating various bits of folklore surrounding trolls into a modern setting and shows off a lot of creative range in all the various trolls the group comes across. I’m like the J. Jonah Jameson of Everything Action, writing and editing and constantly demanding pictures of Spider-Man.
