It will have been 3 years but Denzel Washington is back in theaters (and HBO Max) for January’s crime thriller, The Little Things. Denzel plays Kern County Deputy Sheriff Joe Deacon, who heads to Los Angeles on what is supposed to be a routine evidence collecting trip. He learns a killer is stalking the city and murdering young girls and he teams up with LA detective Jim Baxter (Rami Malek) to hunt down the killer. The obvious suspect seems to be Jared Leto’s creepy suspect, but he has an alibi despite Deacon’s instincts that they have their man. Natalie Morales, Terry Kinney, Chris Bauer, Joris Jarsky, Isabel Arraiza, and Michael Hyatt co-star, and the movie is directed by John Lee Hancock, who most recently brought us The Highwaymen on Netflix. It looks like a solid crime thriller in the vein of a True Detective and it will be out in theaters and simultaneously on HBO Max on January 29th as one of the first movies in Warner Bros’ bold and controversial plan to release every 2021 film day and date in theaters and HBO Max. I’m like the J. Jonah Jameson of Everything Action, writing and editing and constantly demanding pictures of Spider-Man.
