Everything Action Theater: Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life

Angelina Jolie is back in action this coming weekend on HBO Max and in theaters with Those Who Wish Me Dead but back in the early 2000s she was making her mark as an action hero with Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in 2001 and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life in 2003, which you can watch below for the latest Everything Action Theater.  Jolie was back as adventurer Lara Croft, who was now on the trail of Pandora’s Box.  An evil scientist, played by Ciaran Hinds, is also after the Box and, if he gets to it first, it could lead to worldwide devastation.  To help on her mission, Lara recruits her ex-partner and mercenary Terry Sheridan, played by Gerard Butler, and the race is on across the globe from Kenya to Hong Kong to Greece, with each location featuring some sort of massive set-piece action sequence, including a much-hyped and first of its kind wingsuit sequence.  Speed director Jan De Bont was behind the camera for Cradle of Life and most critics agreed it was a significant improvement over the first film.  However, the negative reception of the first film and the release of one of the worst games in the series, Angel of Darkness, around the same time made Cradle of Life less successful at the box office and it was considered a bomb by Paramount domestically but it did better internationally.  Lara wouldn’t appear again on the big screen until Alicia Vikander took over the role in 2018.  You can watch the entire movie below thanks to YouTube.
