After bouncing around between numerous release dates, Denis Villeneuve’s epic-looking new take on Frank Herbert’s sci-fi classic Dune is finally arriving in October this year. Timothee Chalamet stars as Paul Atreides, the heir to House Atreides and the son of Duke Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac). Leto accepts the stewardship of the planet Arrakis from the emperor, the only planet where “melange” or “the spice” is found, which is the most valuable and powerful substance in the universe. House Atreides becomes the target of the ruthless House Harkonnen, who wants to take Arrakis for themselves and wipe out House Atreides and Paul and his mother Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson) find themselves on the run and join the Fremen, the native people of Arrakis. Dave Bautista, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, Stellan Skarsgard, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Charlotte Rampling and Javier Bardem co-star. Villeneuve looks like he’s going all out with the visual style and serious sci-fi chops he brought to movies like Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 and hopefully this is finally the project that finally gives Dune the adaptation it deserves. The movie will be out on October 22nd in theaters and on HBO Max and you can check out the new trailer below.
I’m like the J. Jonah Jameson of Everything Action, writing and editing and constantly demanding pictures of Spider-Man.
