Roland Emmerich Sends the Moon on a Collision Course in Moonfall (Trailer)

Master of disaster Roland Emmerich returns in February next year for what seems like his biggest disaster movie yet, Moonfall.  A mysterious force knocks the Moon out of orbit, putting it on a collision course with Earth that could wipe out the entire planet.  Halle Berry plays NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler, who believes she has a plan to stop the apocalyptic collision but only her fellow astronaut Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson) and conspiracy theorist KC Houseman (John Bradley) believe her and the trio launch a last-ditch space mission. Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, Kelly Yu, Eme Ikwuakor, Carolina Bartczak, and Donald Sutherland co-star, and Emmerich co-wrote the movie along with directing.  Emmerich has arguably been in a slump for a while with movies like 2012, White House Down, and ID4: Resurgence not coming close to his 90s classics but Midway was fairly solid and hopefully Moonfall will let him unleash some huge destruction and recapture the magic of stuff like ID4 or The Day After Tomorrow.  It looks like the gravity forces of the Moon coming closer to Earth will lend to some creative destruction and it looks like there’s something strange going on that might tie into the cause of the Moon getting knocked out of orbit.  The movie is out on February 4th, 2022 and you can check out the trailer below.
