Musical Montage: Hoku “Another Dumb Blonde”
Featured on the soundtrack of the 2000 Nickelodeon movie Snow Day, the song “Another Dumb Blonde” was the biggest hit ever for Hawaiian singer Hoku. Born Hoku Christian Ho, Hoku is the daughter of the legendary Don Ho, who helped get her career started and helped her land a record deal at Geffen Records. “Another Dumb Blonde” was released in January of 2000, about a month before Snow Day hit theaters, and after it aired on MTV, it became the network’s 10th most requested video. The song peaked at #27 on the Billboard Hot 100. Strangely enough, for the music video, Hoku is mostly hanging out with friends at a beach party, the furthest thing from the record snowfall of Snow Day, but the video does feature clips from the movie and the movie’s stars Mark Webber, Schuyler Fisk and Emmanuelle Chriqui appear in the video.
