Sicario: Day of the Soldado is a decent but wholly unnecessary sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s incredible 2015 thriller that finds Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Tor back in Mexico trying to start a war between two rival cartels.

Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro are back in the sequel to 2015’s Sicario, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, launching another shady black ops mission to try and incite a war between rival drug cartels.

Following up Denis Villeneuve’s grim and intense Sicario, Sicario 2: Soldado sees Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro returning and given the green light to do whatever it takes to escalate the war against the Mexican cartels.
