New Release Round Up 9/3
The resurgent third season of True Detective is out this week on DVD and Blu-ray along with the tepid summer blockbuster Men in Black International, Ma, Booksmart, the sixth season of The Goldbergs and more.
Musical Montage: Pitbull “Back in Time”
After two songs from Will Smith, Men in Black 3 turned the reigns over to Mr. Worldwide himself, Pitbull, for the song “Back in Time”, which was less a MIB song and more a typical Pitbull song with some random MIB references thrown in.
Battle at the Box Office 6/24
Toy Story 4 opened with the highest opening ever for the series but did not meet Disney’s absurdly inflated expectations while the new Child’s Play also did not meet its modest expectations and Luc Besson’s latest didn’t even open in the top 10.

Men in Black: International was at the top of the box office but it was another weekend of new entries in established franchise vastly underperforming compared to their predecessors while Dark Phoenix continues to fall off a cliff and dropped almost 75% from last weekend.

It seems like both the Men in Black and Shaft franchises should have stayed dormant, as both of this weekend’s new entries have been panned by critics.
