This week on the Everything Actioncast, Zach and Chris discuss the first trailers for Don’t Breathe 2, Jolt and The Many Saints of Newark, Blumhouse remaking The Exorcist, F9: The Fast Saga, The Ice Road, Loki Episode 4, Nobody, Transformers and more.
F9, as expected, had a gigantic opening despite some theaters still not being open or operating with limited capacity due to the pandemic and helped get the total weekend box office to over $100 million for the first time since March 2020.
Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge is getting a sequel, Manifest and Clarice are canceled, John Wick 4 gets another awesome cast member, the Gaston prequel series is greenlit on Disney+, Near Dark may be getting a 4K restoration and more in this week’s News Shotgun.
Mortal Kombat continued Warner Bros’ dominance of the pandemic affected box office with a strong debut and the #1 spot over the weekend but anime movie Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train was an incredibly strong competitor and added to its already massive worldwide gross with its domestic release.
Godzilla vs Kong remained at the top of the box office for another weekend and, despite the strained conditions in the theatrical industry, it has topped the worldwide box office total of Godzilla: King of the Monsters by around $7 million and counting.
Godzilla vs Kong was the Alpha Titan of the box office over the weekend with the biggest debut in theaters since the pandemic began and topping Godzilla: King of the Monster’s opening weekend if you take Godzilla vs Kong’s five-day opening total.
