Theaters were hoping this past holiday weekend would be an indicator that theaters were almost back to normal and A Quiet Place Part 2 delivered with an opening as good as the first movie, even better if you count the 4-day weekend, and the best opening since the pandemic began.
Spiral remained at the top of the box office for a second weekend as we gear up for a hopefully big Memorial Day at theaters domestically while F9 exploded overseas with an opening of $162 million in markets like China, Korea and Hong Kong.
Spiral took the top spot at the box office with the lowest opening in the Saw series (but none of the others opened during a pandemic) while Those Who Wish Me Dead flopped even by pandemic standards and the other new releases just barely cracked the top 10.
The Saw franchise returns with Chris Rock starring in and executive producing Spiral: From the Book of Saw, where a new serial killer who seems to be taking inspiration from John Kramer is unleashing a new game of deadly traps.
This week on the podcast, Zach and Chris pay tribute to the legendary Kirk Douglas, dive into the insane first trailer for F9: The Fast Saga, try to figure out how Spiral fits into the Saw franchise, McDonalds fraud, Love Death and Robots and more.
