Netflix Unleashes Project Power in August (Trailer)

Hopefully continuing the trend of awesome action Netflix has been delivering this year like Extraction and The Old Guard, Project Power arrives in August on the streaming service.  Starring Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Dominique Fishback, the trio come from different backgrounds in New Orleans to team up and try to uncover and stop the source of a drug called Power, which lets whoever takes it have 5 minutes of superpowers.  The catch is that the user of the drug doesn’t know what power will manifest until they take it and it could also be a deadly reaction with devastating effects.  Rodrigo Santoro co-stars as the kingpin behind the drug and Machine Gun Kelly, Amy Landecker, and Courtney B. Vance co-star as well.  The movie is directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, the pair behind Catfish as well as Paranormal Activity 3, Nerve, and Viral.  It looks like some really awesome superpowered based action and you can check it out on August 14th, watch the trailer below.

It’s a Super Powered Dystopia in Code 8 (Trailer)

Robbie and Stephen Amell are teaming up (and seemingly facing off) in the upcoming dystopian superhero movie Code 8.  Robbie Amell plays Connor Reed, who is one of the 4% of the population in the movie’s universe that is born with superpowers.  However, instead of becoming superheroes, they are discriminated against and forced to live in slums by the militarized police force, with most of the people with abilities being forced into lives of crime.  Connor is approached by Garret (Stephen Amell) to join a crew working for the city’s main drug kingpin, Marcus Sutcliffe (Greg Byrk), which Connor accepts as he needs money to help his ailing mother.  Sung Kang plays a cop trying to track down and stop the crew.  The movie is based on a short film that was released in 2016 that had most of the main cast in it and the director of the short, Jeff Chan, is directing the movie as well.  Code 8 is out in theaters and On Demand on December 13th and you can check out the trailer below.

One & Two Trailer

If you crossed The Village and Jumper, it seems like you get the new sci-fi movie, One & Two.  Kiernan Shipka aka Sally Draper and Timothee Chalamet from Homeland star as siblings who have the ability to teleport and possibly more but are trapped on their family farm by their overbearing and paranoid father, played by Grant Bowler from Defiance.  Shipka’s character Eva escapes one night and finds herself in the modern world but finds they aren’t exactly welcoming to someone with mysterious powers.  Fellow Mad Men actress Elisabeth Reaser plays the mother of the family.  The movie is out on VOD and theaters on August 14th and you can check out the trailer below.
