As we get ready to see who the Oscars award this coming weekend, it’s time once again for the Kick Ass Awards, Everything Action’s own celebration of last year’s best and worst, including the prestigious Ass Kicker of the Year and The Kick Ass Movie of 2022.  Read on to check out all the winners (and losers).

2022 was a great year for movies with a great mix of smaller movies, streaming originals, and massive blockbusters in theaters. Here are Zach’s picks for his top 10 best/favorite movies of the year.

The biggest movie of the year, Top Gun: Maverick, is out this week on Blu-ray/4K along with a slew of Christmas favorites like Elf, Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story on 4K, steelbook 4Ks for The Running Man and Starship Troopers, Season 1 of Dark Winds and more.

The “final” chapter in the Halloween saga took the top spot at the box office, although its the lowest opening entry for this new Halloween trilogy that began in 2018.

In the 2nd worst weekend since January, Barbarian managed to take the top spot on the box office charts as the dearth of huge blockbusters continues to hurt the theatrical totals.

Although Sony claimed victory on Sunday for Spider-Man: No Way Home, with the actual numbers out, Top Gun: Maverick returned to the #1 spot at the box office 15 weeks after it opened in May over a slow Labor Day weekend, despite multiple movies getting a boost by National Cinema Day.

As Summer 2022 winds down, it was another incredibly slow weekend at the box office thanks to a dearth of truly massive blockbusters, which let The Invitation take the top spot.
