Musical Montage: Godsmack “I Stand Alone”

Originally for The Scorpion King, director Chuck Russell, who was a big Godsmack fan, wanted to use the band’s song Voodoo for the soundtrack but wanted to see if the band could redo it since was an older song.  Lead singer Sully Erna wasn’t really feeling that and wrote I Stand Alone after learning about the story and seeing the trailer.  The Rock was a huge fan of the song and it hit number 1 on the Mainstream Rock chart and number 20 on the Modern Rock chart when it was released in 2002.  It was also nominated for two Grammys at that year’s ceremony and used in other projects like the video game Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and Return of the Living Dead: Necropolis.  In the official music video, the band is rocking on the set of some Egyptian ruins while in a subplot, Sully is following a map through the desert to find the resting place of an artifact related to the Scorpion King.  Check it out below.
