The King Returns With Some New Company in Godzilla: King of the Monsters (Trailer)

2014’s Godzilla, while maybe lacking in the interesting human character department, did justice to the big G himself, with an incredible sense of scale and an amazing kaiju battle in the climax.  Now the King of the Monsters returns and is up against, and possibly teaming up, with some of his old friends for the sequel.  The Earth of the WB’s Monsterverse is in dire straits following the events of the first Godzilla and Dr. Emma Russell (Vera Farmiga) believes the only way to restore order and give humanity a shot at survival is to find the other creatures of myth like Godzilla, who are “the fever to humanity’s infection”.  This means Monarch is out searching for Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidrah, although it seems like Godzilla will have to take up his mantle as the defender of the Earth at some point to stop at least one of them *cough* Ghidrah *cough*.  Mille Bobbie Brown, Bradley Whitford, Kyle Chandler, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Thomas Middleditch, O’Shea Jackson Jr, Aisha Hind, Ziyi Zhang and Charles Dance (who may be playing the older version of Tom Hiddleston’s character from Skull Island) co-star and Mike Dougherty, who previously brought us the fantastic Trick R Treat and Krampus, is directing.  The movie arrives on May 31 next summer, check out the first trailer below.
