After some bizarre and brief non-trailers, Disney has finally released the first, full trailer for their upcoming live action reboot of Aladdin, which arrives in May this summer. Guy Ritchie is behind the camera with Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, Will Smith as The Genie and Marwan Kenzari as Jafar and, like most of the other reboots we’ve seen so far, it will remain extremely close to the story of the animated classic as Aladdin tries to win the heart of Princess Jasmine and stop the evil Jafar with the help of magical powers of The Genie. All of the iconic music is back (and we hear some of Friend Like Me and Whole New World in this trailer) and there are two new songs from The Greatest Showman songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Seeing a full trailer, this movie looks much better than the horrifying disaster some of the other “special looks” made it seem like but we’ll only truly know when the movie arrives on May 24th. Check out the trailer below.
I’m like the J. Jonah Jameson of Everything Action, writing and editing and constantly demanding pictures of Spider-Man.
