Everything Action Theater: Werewolf (1987)

Putting a horror spin on TV shows like The Fugitive or The Incredible Hulk, Werewolf aired for one season starting in 1987 on Fox.  The series starred John J. York as Eric Cord, a college student who is transformed into a werewolf by his friend Ted after being bitten.  Forced to kill Ted with a silver bullet, Eric is forced to go on the run when he’s now wanted for Ted’s murder.  Wandering across the country, Eric takes odd jobs and runs into strangers that he is usually able to help in some fashion by transforming into his werewolf form and battling evildoers.  As opposed to classic lore, Eric doesn’t transform when the moon is full, instead, a pentagram symbol on his hand glows when the transformation is imminent. Eric’s main goal is to track down the progenitor of the werewolf bloodline and kill him to remove the curse.  Chuck Connors and then Brian Thompson played the main evil werewolves while Lance LeGault played a bounty hunter who was on Eric’s trail.  The show opened with a 2-hour pilot movie and then lasted for 28 weekly episodes before it was canceled in the spring of 1988.  The series was created by Frank Lupo, who also worked on The A-Team, Renegade, Riptide, Wiseguy, and Hunter.  The full series was going to be released by Shout Factory but music rights canceled the set and it also aired on the now-defunct cable network Chiller.  You can watch the pilot movie below thanks to YouTube.
