Admit One 6/3
Happy Fourth of July weekend to everyone in the States. At the box office this means 1920’s criminals and dinosaurs. Let’s see who reviewed better.
Public Enemies
Starring: Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard
Directed by: Michael Mann
Plot: The director of Heat gives us a look at the legendary criminal John Dillinger and the FBI agent who hunts him.
Rotten Tomatoes Freshness: 63%
Critic Consensus: “Michael Mann’s latest is a competent and technically impressive gangster flick with charismatic lead performances, but some may find the film lacks truly compelling drama.”
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
Starring: Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Queen Latifah
Directed by: Carlos Saldanha
Plot: The Ice Age gang stumbles upon a cache of still living dinosaurs living in caverns under the Earth.
RT Freshness: 46%
Critic Consensus: “The third Ice Age film has some excellent animation, but its story is tired and monotonous.”
Public enemies did lack something… not quite sure what… it seemed to drag on… perhaps drama was exactly it… the film was shot fantastically even though the doc style hurt my friends’s eyes.
