Since the show has outpaced the books, the pace of Game of Thrones shifted into overdrive last season as tons of huge developments led to what we have coming up in July when the show finally returns. Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) has finally arrived in Westeros and is looking to reclaim her family’s hold on the Iron Throne with a massive alliance behind her, including a combined Dothraki/Unsullied army and the Greyjoy fleet, while Cersei (Lena Headey) took down all comers and is the sole power in King’s Landing and Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) defeated the psychotic Ramsey Bolton and are gathering power in the North. All of the warring and political maneuvering might not matter however if the White Walkers arrive now that Winter has come. The showrunners have said this season is going to move even quicker than last season as far as huge plot points and it’s the penultimate season before we get the slew of prequels when the main show ends in 2018. Check out the trailer below and the new season begins on July 16th.
