Admit One 9/4

By Zach

Well, we’re into September but it’s still kind of summer at the box office as there is a big action movie and a big comedy in the multiplexes this weekend along with Sandra Bullock acting like an insane stalker.

Starring: Jason Bateman, Mila Kunis, JK Simmons, Ben Affleck

Directed by: Mike Judge

Plot: Joel, manager of a vanilla extract factory, grows bored with his life and seeks advice from his bartending/pot smoking best friend.

Rotten Tomatoes Freshness: 57%

Critic Consensus: “Extract has some very funny moments and several fine performances, but the film feels slighter and more uneven than Mike Judge’s previous work.”

Starring: Gerard Butler, Michael C. Hall, Ludacris, Kyra Sedgwick

Directed by: Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor

Plot:  In the future, the newest form of entertainment is the game “Slayers” where players control other humans in live combat.  The star of the game is Kable, but he must find a way to break free and save his family.

RT Freshness: 29%

Critic Consensus: N/A

All About Steve

Starring: Sandra Bullock, Bradley Cooper, Thomas Haden Church, Ken Jeong

Directed by: Phil Traill

Plot: After one blind date, Mary Horowitz is convinced that TV news cameraman Steve is her soul mate and chases him across the country.

RT Freshness: 0%

Critic Consensus: “All About Steve is an oddly creepy, sour film, featuring a heroine so desperate and peculiar that audiences may be more likely to pity than root for her.”
