Battle at the Box Office 6/6

X-Men: First Class was the “big” winner at the box office this weekend but it was the lowest opening for the X-Man franchise with $56 million.  The original film made $54.1 million but that was ten years ago and adjusted for inflation, it’s actually closer to to $79 million.  The last film before First Class, Wolverine, made $85.1 million but First Class is an infinitely better film than that movie.  Compared to it’s Marvel cousins, First Class is comparable to the opening weekend of The Incredible Hulk’s opening.  The Hangover Part II dropped down to second and had a pretty significant 62% drop from the previous weekend, making $32 million this weekend.   Kung Fu Panda 2 was third with $24 million.  Pirates of the Caribbean and Bridesmaids rounded out the top 5.  Other than that, everything else literally just moved down a slot, with the exception of Jumping the Broom flip flopping with Something Borrowed at the bottom of the top ten.
