UPDATE – The viral campaign for Man of Steel has paid off BIG TIME with the release of the third, full-length trailer:
Did you know that Warner Bros. upcoming Superman epic, Man of Steel, has a really kick-ass viral campaign going on? Well, there is. And it’s definitely worth your time.
For those of you scratching your heads, allow me to bring you up to speed. Back in December, SHH reported that the viral marketing for Man of Steel had kicked off by way of the Deep Space Wave Radio (DSRW) Project. A series of cryptic, static-riddled transmissions eventually revealed the message, “You Are Not Alone,” which ultimately rewarded fans with what appeared to be General Zod’s shield taking over the screen.
Speaking of ominous Kryptonian screen takeovers, the official site for Man of Steel now contains a rather gnarly message from General Zod himself, demanding that we turn over Kal-El, lest we face the wrath of Zod. By the way, we have 24 hours to do so. No big deal.
Last but certainly not least, the viral campaign has left us with a new site, I Will Find Him, which prominently displays a funky Kryptonian countdown. Could it be the new trailer reveal that fans are anxiously awaiting? I certainly hope so, but we will find out for sure within the next two days.
In the meantime, check out this bone-chilling message from General Zod himself:
What do you think of this viral marketing/ARG campaign for Man of Steel? Does it even come close to the game-changing viral campaign for The Dark Knight? Let us know in the comments!
Man of Steel soars into theaters everywhere on June 14, 2013.
