It’s shaping up as another summer full of reboots and remakes with movies like Ben-Hur, Ghostbusters and, taking the prime July 1st weekend, The Legend of Tarzan, which just got a new trailer. The new Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgard) is taking a slightly different approach to the King of the Jungle, at least to start, as most of the adventures you know have already happened and Tarzan has been living in England with his wife Jane (Margot Robbie) and going by his English name, John Clayton III aka Lord Greystroke. He’s forced to return to his jungle home in the Congo when a ruthless industrialist, Captain Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz) threatens to destroy everything. Samuel L. Jackson and Djimon Hounsou co-star and David Yates, who directed the majority of the Harry Potter series, is directing. It looks like mostly what you would want from a new Tarzan, although the use of CG animals looks like it might be out of control (I don’t think there’s that many wildebeasts in all of Africa, let alone the Congo). Check out the new trailer below.
