Since the first Pirates of the Caribbean came out, it’s been slightly diminishing returns for any of the other movies based on Disney attractions but hopefully, Jungle Cruise will prove to be a fun adventure. The Rock and Emily Blunt co-star, with The Rock playing Frank, a riverboat skipper who mostly scams tourists with the crappy equivalent of the actual Disney Jungle Cruise ride while Blunt plays Lily Houghton, a scientist on a quest to discover the Tree of Life, a magical tree that is said to be somewhere deep in the Amazon that has the power to cure any illness on Earth. Jack Whitehall plays Lily’s brother McGregor and Edgar Ramirez and Jesse Plemons are the villains, with Ramirez having some sort of supernatural/undead powers that seem like it’s trying to get some of the Pirates formulae into this movie. It’s directed by Jaume Collet-Sera and it seems like it should be fun, with a sort of African Queen meets Pirates vibe, although hopefully some of the CG is still being worked on because some of the effects look pretty mediocre, especially for a massive Disney summer blockbuster. The movie is out on July 24th and you can check out the new trailer below.
I’m like the J. Jonah Jameson of Everything Action, writing and editing and constantly demanding pictures of Spider-Man.
