While Keanu has been killing it with the John Wick franchise, the franchise that made him an action legend is coming back in December with the fourth Matrix movie, The Matrix Resurrections. Directed by a solo Lana Wachowski, Resurrections finds Neo back in The Matrix with seemingly no knowledge of his past as The One and the true nature of the world. He gets flashes and hints and it seems like eventually he rediscovers his powers and has to battle the machines and their Agents again with a new group of human resistance fighters. There are quick shots that seem to confirm this is still the same Neo from the end of Revolutions and his body was jacked back into the system by the machines after they took it following Neo’s defeat of Agent Smith. Carrie Ann Moss returns as Trinity although she is also seemingly unaware at first of the true nature of things and it’s also not clear if she’s fully digital or if the machines were somehow able to resurrect (hey!) her after her death in Revolutions. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Christina Ricci, Telma Hopkins, Eréndira Ibarra, Toby Onwumere, Max Riemelt, Brian J. Smith co-star with Jada Pinkett Smith set to return as, presumably Niobe from the original trilogy. The movie is out on December 22nd in theaters and on HBO Max and you can check out the first trailer below.
I’m like the J. Jonah Jameson of Everything Action, writing and editing and constantly demanding pictures of Spider-Man.
