Musical Montage: Metropolis “The Darkest Side of the Night”

Bookending Jason’s boat trip and brief visit to New York City in Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan was the song “The Darkest Side of the Night” by Metropolis, which plays during the opening and closing credits.  Metropolis consists of the duo of Stan Meissner and Peter Fredette, who were requested by Jason Takes Manhattan director Rob Hedden to write a song that sounded like Robert Plant, which resulted in “The Darkest Side of the Night”.  The song could only be heard in the movie until 2000 when Metropolis finally released their one and only album to date, The Power of the Night, which featured “The Darkest Side of the Night” as the second track.  There’s unfortunately no official music video for the song, depriving us of possibly seeing Kane Hodder stalk the Metropolis duo as Jason but you can listen to the song below.
