Musical Montage: Coldrain “Vengeance”

Ninja Kamui wrapped up its first season on Adult Swim/Toonami this past weekend, and if you’ve been keeping up with all the ninja action, you heard “Vengeance” by Coldrain every week during the opening title sequence.  Formed in 2007, Coldrain is a Japanese rock band that combines elements of post-hardcore, alternative rock, and metal, with all their songs written in English.  Lead singer Masato Hayakawa has a Japanese father and an American mother and speaks Japanese and English fluently.  The band is no stranger to their songs being used in anime, with Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger, King’s Game The Animation, and Rainbow: Nisha Rokubō no Shichinin all using Coldrain songs as their opening themes, and they have also been featured in games like Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 and in the trailer for Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City.  “Vengeance” was explicitly written for Ninja Kamui, and the band released a music video and a single when the show premiered.  You can check out the music video for “Vengeance” below.
