One of the most anticipated summer weekends is imminent when Oppenheimer and Barbie open this coming Friday.  While it remains to be seen who will come out on top at the box office, one place Barbie definitely has an advantage is its soundtrack, which includes “Dance the Night” from Mermaid Barbie herself, Dua Lipa.

Probably better remembered than the Stallone movie it came from, Gloria Estefan’s version of a 1976 disco classic by Vicki Sue Robinson was on the soundtrack for 1994’s The Specialist and became a big dance hit and hit #13 on the Billboard charts.

At the peak of Disco madness, horror legend Vincent Price lent his distinctive voice to a new, funky version of “Monster Mash”, which was also featured a few years later in the 1981 Vincent Price movie, The Monster Club.

Most of the cast plus the one and only David Hasselhoff are assembled for the official music video for Guardians Vol. 2’s original disco song “Guardians Inferno”

A massive box office bomb, the soundtrack for 1980’s Xanadu fared better than the movie itself, with Olivia Newton-John and ELO’s title song hitting number 1 in a ton of European countries and hitting the top 10 here in the States.

Among the 70’s hits and deep cuts from bands like Cheap Trick, Fleetwood Mac and Silver, the new Awesome Mix Vol. 2 also features a brand new disco/rap song from the one and only David Hasselhoff and “The Sneepers”, Guardians Inferno.
