Even though 2013’s GI Joe: Retaliation was a pretty significant step-up from its predecessor, Rise of Cobra, Paramount and Hasbro decided to start from scratch with Snake Eyes: GI Joe Origins but it doesn’t generate the same level of optimism as Bumblebee did for the Transformers franchise.

It was a lackluster and underperforming weekend at the box office with M. Night Shyamalan’s Old taking the top spot, topping its release competitor Snake Eyes, but neither of those new films hit expectations while movies like Space Jam: A New Legacy, saw massive dropoffs compared to last weekend.

Henry Golding stars as GI Joe’s resident ninja Snake Eyes for this July’s reboot of the GI Joe movie series, showing Snake Eyes’ training with the Arashikage and his relationship with friend/future enemy Storm Shadow, played by Andrew Koji.
