Riding great reviews and it’s classic name brand, Rise of the Planet of the Apes easily dominated the weekend box office.

Harry Potter hit hard last weekend but completely collapsed under the shield of Captain America, which took the top spot at the box office this weekend.

The question of “How big of an opening weekend will Harry Potter have?” was answered when Deathly Hallows Part 2 had the biggest opening weekend of all time, beating The Dark Knight.

Transformers maintained the top spot this weekend while Horrible Bosses had a solid opening at second.

The latest Transformers movie continued the franchise’s box office domination by having the highest grossing Fourth of July weekend of all time.

Even though it was the first “rotten” Pixar movie, Cars 2 took the top spot at the box office this weekend, followed by a surprisingly strong Bad Teacher.

Green Lantern was tops at the box office this weekend but it was an extremely weak opening for a major comic book superhero movie.

Super 8 was the winner of the box office but it’s box office take wasn’t that spectacular based on it’s crazy marketing and hype.

X-Men: First Class won the box office this weekend but it was one of the lowest openings for the franchise.

The Hangover Part 2 wins the weekend in a big way while Kung Fu Panda 2 failed to live up it’s predecessor.
