Dumbo took the top spot at the box office but it was below both Disney’s estimates and industry estimates while Captain Marvel is closing in on $1 billion worldwide and Us had a typical horror movie drop from last weekend but remains strong.
Jordan Peele’s follow-up to Get Out blew away it’s predecessor, and almost every other horror movie ever, with a $70+ million debut and the largest opening for an original live-action film since Avatar.
Captain Marvel easily remained on top of the box office for another weekend, becoming the highest grossing movie of 2019 worldwide so far while Wonder Park and Five Feet Apart exceeded expectations and Captive State had one of the worst openings of all time.
This weekend has an alien invasion, a magical theme park and teen melodrama at the box office.
