Battle for Los Angeles Trailer

With Skyline out this weekend, another alien invasion movie released it’s first trailer.  That movie is Battle for Los Angeles, a grittier, Black Hawk Downesque take on the alien invasion genre.  As you can probably guess from the title, aliens invade Los Angeles (I believe this is about the 10th time it’s happened) and a squad of marines (led by Aaron Eckhart) are on the front lines trying to fight them off.  It looks pretty good and it might be interesting to see a more realistic take on an alien invasion, even though I love me some Independence Day style invasions as well.

Skyline/I Am Number Four Trailers

Weirdly there were two trailers for sci-fi alien movies released today.   The first is the second trailer for Skyline.  Directed by special effects gurus the Strause brothers it follows Eric Balfour and Donald Faison, among others, as they try to escape an alien invasion in Los Angeles.  This new trailer ramps up the action as it appears there’s going to be some Independence Dayesque air battles and horrible giant alien creatures.  I’m definitely way more excited for this one now as the effects look phenomenal.

The other trailer is for a movie I didn’t know existed until today, I Am Number Four. Based on a book, it follows a teen alien fugitive with special powers who must try to survive an evil aliens on his heels. Not really a lot revealed in the trailer but Timothy Olyphant is the bad guy so I’m intrigued but DJ Caruso is directing, so that dampens my excitement significantly.

Everything Actioncast Ep. 16 “L33T Haxorz”

This week on the Everything Actioncast Zach, Brian and Chris answer burning questions like: Is there such thing as a bad Godzilla movie? What the hell does the end of Inception mean? What goes on inside the mind of Zack Snyder? and Is Samuel L. Jackson the baddest IT tech in movie history?  All this and more on this week’s podcast.

  • Show and Tell: Brian checks out Edge of Darkness and the 80’s classic Flash Gordon, Chris watches Hawthorne for some reason (and wishes it was more Scrubesque), Zach checks out Green Zone and Godzilla 2000 and the guys talk more about Inception (Spoilers!).
  • News: Faster Trailer, Tim Burton directing Monsterpocalypse and Comic Con news.
  • Hacking!: With the 15th anniversary of the “classic” movie The Net this week, the guys decide to discuss some of their favorite examples of awesomely bad hacking from movies like Jurassic Park, Independence Day, Hackers, Johnny Mnemonic and more.

Get Out of There!

From the guys who brought you Mirror Scare and No Signal, comes another movie cliche: “Get out of there!”  There always comes a time when your fighter squadron, undercover agent or whatnot is about to be destroyed, attacked or revealed and the best way that you can help is to scream at them to “Get out of there!”.  You can use it to yell at multiple people or to emphasize you can change it to something like “Get your asses out of there!”.  It really is a versatile phrase and you can see tons of it’s uses in the video below.
