The new Ninja Turtles managed to top the Guardians of the Galaxy this past weekend with another great August opening while the other new releases did not fare quite as well.
Despite being basically brand new to the general public, audiences came out in droves to see Star Lord, Rocket, Groot, Gamora and Drax as Guardians had the biggest August opening ever and the third best opening of 2014.

Lord and Miller had their second, massive hit of the year as 22 Jump St easily dominated the box office with the second highest R rated comedy opening of all time.
Maleficent easily conquered the box office this weekend while Seth MacFarlane may have been a one hit movie wonder with A Million Ways to Die in the West bombing.
